OUR COLUMNIST AVILA AND THE ART BUBBLE:

‘The actual “art bubble” is a reflection of the society in which we live where huge amounts of money obtained by a few must be reinvested in some sort of safe heaven, because… who is going to say in a court of law that a work of art is not priceless, taking in account that a large part of our society doesn’t have a clue about art… In most cases, necessity is what overcomes the circumstances. Societies, as well as individuals, often make use of new ideas when they must, not when they should, leaving a gap of understanding every time that a concept is rejected, just because the problem isn’t yet a commonly recognized event. The difficulty strives in the ability for the society to descry their circumstances frequently distorted by deceiving politicians and rulers, but also by individuals from the same communities, that for their own interest or just because of fear masked in ignorance, disregard reality.’
