AVILA IS NOT HAPPY WITH SISLEJ XHAFA’S SHOW AT BLAIN/SOUTHERN:
‘‘The taxidermy cat, in particular, indicates the absurdity of recycling an animal’s body, in the hope of capturing the animal’s essence even after its death.”
I wonder if the artist is brain dead, and this exhibition is some sort of funerary ‘merry-go-round’ conceptualistic ritual to invoke or call upon a greater power, such as an art critic or a capitalistic spirit for help.
The show represents another failure by the current contemporary epiphenomenalism, based on futile and frivolous attempts to bring the viewer’s consciousness as and aftereffect of physical processes while lacking serious value, substance, and a sense of responsibility.
“The installation thus illustrates the jarring difference between the dream and the reality of contemporary socio- political aspirations… in order to convey a perpetual cycle of consumption and decay.”
Socio-political aspirations…? Consumption and decay…?
Are this people crazy…? Or… is that they want the viewer to do all the work for them, having fun at the sametime they should hoist themselves with their own petards to access heavens Portcullis…?’
