READER ELIZABETH BECKMANN AND THE LUST FOR INSTANTANEOUS MEANING IN CONTEMPORARY ART:

‘Arthur C. Danto said that what makes an object art is not what we see but the invisibleness of the meaning behind the piece. So this guy has a meaning behind a stuff cat. (much like a stuff shark) The meaning is conveyed ASAP, and all at once, which makes it meaningless to the viewer. We are left with a “so what” feeling. Something I experience too often these days when gallery and museum hopping. Some say there is not any good art out there. I say the good artists are not given an opportunity and are being over looked for trendy artist.’
