OUR COLUMNIST AVILA SAYS ABOUT AKRAN ZAATARI’S SHOW AT THOMAS DANE/LONDON the following:

‘The showman Akran Zaatari and his dramatic presentation in the form of a staged documentary of “all sorts” are trying to convince us that the lack of confidence on exhibiting something with pure images is the product of our society’s self assurance on believing in the ability to succeed by deploying an array of deceiving mirrors… In another words, Zaatari is not convinced that we can find the message of his work by just looking at the final product… He wants us to look at the gyros sandwich brought by his cousin and left on top of his desk during a photo shoot so we can understand that artist sometimes have to fight hunger in order to exercise their creative right of revealing information…’
