“Preference for white Carrara marble sculpture…” and “towards ideology which presents itself as technique…” put me in mind of this iconic contemporary art sculpture:
Because its form simultaneously enacts tribute to, and critique of the academy (aka Städelschule Frankfurt, haunted by the spectre of Kippenberger and other instrumentalised idealis…)
So when ideological value becomes synonymous with technique (e.g. portable 90’s-vintage critique aesthetics of my example) how can such artfair-admissable leftism become hotwired beyond a referential vehicle for it’s ‘daddy-generation’…?
Its like you can’t feel your own face etc.
